The Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network (PSGDN) proudly welcomes Maciu Silai as its Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Coordinator.
Maciu will collaborate with national member networks across the Pacific to strengthen program impact through effective monitoring systems, progress tracking, and inclusive reporting.
A seasoned Pacific MEL practitioner from Nausori, Fiji, Maciu brings over eight years of experience in development programs across Fiji and the region. With a background as a secondary school teacher, he dedicated more than a decade to education before transitioning to the MEL field.
In 2024, Maciu served as a private MEL service provider for PSGDN, where he spearheaded the MEL component and impact evaluation for the third Pacific Human Rights Conference on SOGIESC. He also refined PSGDN’s MEL systems and tools. Previously, as MEL Officer for the Australia-Fiji Health Sector Support Facility, he supported public health programs, clinical systems, and health system strengthening initiatives.
Maciu has also contributed to research projects, including the Fiji Group-A Streptococcal Project and Skin Health (MDA) Intervention Trial, with findings published in The Lancet Public Health Journal.
Maciu holds a Postgraduate Diploma in General Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific, along with a Bachelor of Education from Fiji National University.
He is an active member of the Fiji MEL Corp, Australian Evaluation Society, and Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association.
With expertise in MEL framework design, data analytics, research, and inclusive reporting, Maciu is committed to advancing gender equity, inclusion, and amplifying marginalized voices.
His work is grounded in cultural sensitivity, human rights, and adaptive learning, advocating for evidence-based stories of change in PIDSOGIESC issues across the Pacific.
PSGDN congratulates Maciu, and looks forward to his contributions in this vital role.
